Nordic Folk
Original work informed by Nordic folk pattern, craft and long-winter design.
Curator's statement
Nordic Folk draws on the geometry of Scandinavian folk craft — knitwear, painted wood, woven textile — and rebuilds it as original contemporary composition. The warmth here is earned rather than decorative: these are patterns made by people getting through long winters, and the work keeps that practicality.
Design philosophy
Folk geometry rebuilt as original contemporary composition. Practical warmth, never costume.
Colour system
Deep red, cream, pine, indigo, warm wood, snow white.
Shape language
Knit and weave geometry, painted-wood motifs abstracted, symmetrical bands.
Composition
Every piece must be a genuinely original composition. No imitation of an identifiable artist's distinctive style, no reproduction of an existing artwork, and never derived from another DALFASTART artwork. Treat the source culture with respect: no stereotypes, no sacred or ceremonial objects used decoratively, and no use of closed cultural practices. Suitable for international audiences and clearly an original contemporary interpretation rather than a traditional artefact.
Ideal spaces
Homes, cabins, hospitality, Scandinavian interiors.
